Default Heritage Tranny codes.

Junior Member

Hello all,

Second time on a discussion board. First was on the 04 Forum where it was suggested it’s an ‘03 that was built after turn of the model year. My ‘04 F150 heritage 4.2 V6 4R70W has a bunch of codes and only has 2nd gear. I pulled codes and got the following:
p0161, p1747, p1000, p0740, p0753, p0758, p0743, p0141, p0750, p0755, p1760

history since issue started:
inspected fuses
installed new/rebuilt transmission.
Removed and inspected transmission control wire harness
replaced PCM

any help is appreciated before I spend another truck value on my truck. I love it had since it was 1 year old and 14k miles. Now has 250k+. Ignore the PATs codes. I had a new key made and the new PCM programmed.

Given the age of the truck and the variety of codes, I would be looking for a common ground that has likely gone bad.

I should also say when this started, I was driving and has just turned off OD then turned back on. Not sure if it helped present the issue or is the originator of the issue. Haven’t checked the button yet but seems like a lot of codes for a button.

Go check fuse F23 under the hood. Make sure it is passing power to its circuits. It is supposed to be HOT IN RUN/START.

Those 04 Heritage trucks "were 03's" rebadged as 04's
That is why you just about "need" to reference it as an 03 or get wrong parts
Not all parts catalogs will list a 04 Heritage
I had one, loved it

i certainly love mine but it’s at the age when things just start going. I’ve been told there’s no 4.2 in 04s. Not in the F150 but yes in the F150 Heritage.

Thank you for that. I’ll check it in the morning. I probably checked it already but will check anyway just in case I didn’t. I have the shop manual but it doesn’t help with the electrical side much. I’m going to order one tomorrow.

I’ll do that. I saw another post on another thread here with a ground map but the link was broken.

It's not giving the symptoms of a ground issue at this point. Focus on the F23 circuit, it's open.

gotcha. Will investigate the F23 circuit 12V in run/start. Thanks.
