Default heads and headers

first a few notes, I am searching for parts for a friends truck as he is pretty much computer illiterate. here is all the info I have on the truck ATM, can get better info tomorrow so if you need specific details then just tell me what to look for and I will get them asap.

looking for a good choice in aftermarket heads and headers to start. they are for a 2003 5.4l FX4. I am not familiar with aftermarket f150 parts so I'm coming to you guys for help. looking to beef up the motor so not looking for oem. do not know how many valves atm, can get that info tomorrow and if I remember correctly he said his current heads are ported.

basically looking for what brands to look at and what brands to steer clear from till I can get more info. any info is more than I currently have so feel free to mention even the littlest of things.

thanks,
nathan

Stay away from shorty headers, they are not worth the costs. Get longtubes.

Unless you are running boost or larger than stock camshafts bigger heads wont do a damn thing.

Depends on how far you go with it the PI head with some porting is a great head. The only option for the modular is trick flow. As far as headers Dynatech will make the most power

I might have missed it, but how are you planning to use this motor?

It's a daily driver, broke a spark plug trying to replace it and there aren't enough threads to just extract it. Gotta take off the cylinder head to get to it. Going to be replacing heads, headers, cams, timing chain, and a few other odds and ends while in that deep into the engine.

If you are that deep into it why not replace the rods with forged ones? After market heads won't do much expecially without boost

No need for aftermarket heads. If it broke a plug off it sounds like a 3v. If its a 2v I would have the heads ported and have time serts installed in all 8 plug holes.
