Guessing you have a 97 or 98? The early trucks had a smaller snorkel.

Or just buy a coupler? Autozone even sells them or check out summit. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/m...SABEgLxLPD_BwE

Non of that matters..since you cut the box so that the 3" PVC fits inside of it. You cut fingers into the box, bend the fingers up, force the 3" into the box and clamp the fingers to the PVC. That's how you keep your clamping level so it doesn't slide while tightening.

Not too sure how you did yours, but there is no cutting necessary if you have the right filter housing. There is not a very good seal where you would get the correct diameter on my old box.

One of these days I'll get every one of these effin' images to show.....

Yea I did mine so that I have a direct 3" flow...non turbulent. To do that , you have to fit the PVC inside the box. I did this before the Gotts mod came into the picture. It's solid and will never fall apart, -

With that, he is still going to pull through a 2.5 inch hole though. He is better off getting the newer style box.

Maybe only early 98's got the smaller snorkel. My Expy has the smaller one too, and it's a 98. But yeah, yours is the larger piece.

My Volant box had a larger opening but it's rectangled 4x3". I had to cut the opening in the engine compartment to match that big box lol. Needed the larger opening to get the most out of the headers...that it did when running wide open. But hell, I don't run wide open anymore, - but yea Intake and exhaust work hand to hand, - theory testing back then lol. Satisfied with the 3" though, as I couldn't get a replacement dry element for the Volant...might be able to now since there's a company making nano filters once again. Just seen that on Amazon recently.
