have a quick question about the gotts mod to a 5.4 intake system. how about just leaving the silencer off and having it pull air from just under the hood. would that cause any issues?

you say warm air, but would it not be the same thing if you were to get an intake for instant k&n? it dumps right in the same area..

 

just drove it without the silencer and feels alot more responsive. even with its 190 thousand miles

 

a CAI is a warm air intake, to have a COLD air intake it has to actually pull the air from outside the engine bay, ford has a factory pretty-cold air intake, thats what the gotts mod is for, to keep the factory intake and allow it to draw more air to increase power

 

eh, if thats the case than ill go grab some pvc tomorrow and paint it black.

never heard of the gotts mod? replacing the silencer with a pvc pipe into the fender for less restriction?

 

the silencer is inside the bend that connects to the throttle body. thats just a tube that goes into the fender, you dont have to paint it black since the pipe coupler covers it all up

 

could of sworn that, that is a silencer as well. could be wrong also, oh well.
