Gotts mod
so i did the gotts mod on my truck today..... very simple to do and i noticed that the rpms are about 100 rpms less then before the mod. She likes the air! Doesnt work as hard now at higher speed due to the increase of the air....... so far i have done the gotts mod, seafoamed the engine all fluids and filters and she runs like a top, next is the tranny rebuilt and 2 universals before i start this years plow season!
could you post some pics of your handywork on my thread? the more the merrier

i was going to try the mod when i had to replace my #8 coil pack but was so frustrated after replacing the pack that i gave up when i couldn't get the filter box off of its mount. also, where is the silencer?
@lunchbox the silencer is the part of the intake tube that you wouldn't consider to help the flow of air. When you look at the tube from a birds eye view you should see the three parts (two big ones and one small one) that have a very small tube coming off of the main on. These are silencers and can easily be cut off and plugged up to help the flow (although its somewhat debateable). Personally I just left mine on.
I did the Gotts Mod tonight, too. I also bought a can of Mass Air Flow Sensor cleaner and cleaned the MAF Sensor as well. Cleaning the MAF cleared my check engine light, actually disconnecting the battery cleared that, but having a clean MAF kept it from coming back
and the Gotts Mod makes my shorty cat back pipes sound a lot meaner. Very nice.
I think the part that took the longest was sanding down the 3" PVC.

Forgot to add, my pipes used to run all the way to the bumper like normal, but they rusted through at one of the ubolts and fell apart. Gotta get them replaced.

Looks good bro! I used a grinder to hone down my 3 in pvc and it did it in a hurry. I still have to take a pic of mine.

I used an electric sander and it took forever. Went back and forth between the truck and the sander about 6 or 7 times. LOL. I saw somewhere online where a guy used a flexible piece of pipe, not sure if he was talking about rubber hose or just a more flexible piece of PVC. That would've been a lot easier. I looked around at Lowes for a while before I just bought a 2ft section of 3" pipe.
I've been wanting to do the mod for a while, then I saw your post the other day and finally went ahead and did it.
Thanks man

I could be wrong but i actually think it was that aluminum dryer pipe, i have tons of that stuff laying around and was going to try it but once i started grinding down the pvc i forgot about it, it literally took me 2 trys...... 1 to test fit and 1 to grind and it fit perfectly, tapped it in with hammer about 2 inches and it was all over, didn't even spend 10 mins on it in total.
