I took out the little inlet cone and put in a 3" PVC pipe and connected it to intake with pipe coupler. I didn't notice a difference and now running the truck stock again

I noticed a tiny bit of mpg increase and a bit better shifting with my 4.6L.

I really think the only way to get the full potential out of the gotts mod is to gut the intake elbow downstream from the filter, removing all restrictions along with the fender breather upstream from the filter.

Give it a shot, its almost free.

I think the ridges in the hose slow the air down less power

No thinking necessary. For the price, it's worth doing even if the gains are extremely minimal. You can't do anything cheaper to gain 5-8hp.

You won't notice anything. Anyone that tells you they can either have their own dyno to see a 5hp increase at 3000rpm, they are full of it, or they don't understand how an engine works. Your truck is not starving for air. Take off the intake and watch the butterfly valve on the throttle as you up the RPM's to daily crusing level (under 2k). It's hardly open.

I did the Gotts mod a while back and the only thing I noticed is maybe a little better mileage on the highway. I'm talking 1 or 2 mpg better. Didn't take much time to do it and already had the parts, why not go for it is what I said.
