Default Gears

I have a 97 f150 with the 4.6. I am runing 35s and was wondering what I could do as far as gears to get back some of my lost power.

I paid $1700 shipped to my door for rims and tires and I couldn't be happier. I completely love them. When I bought the truck it had 35s on it so I couldn't really tell you a difference but I have heard changing to the 4.56 will bring it to stock plus a little.

The loss in power really isn't that bad to be honest. I've raced his truck and I'm running 265's with 3.55ls and a Gryphon and he's not much slower than I am.. I really thought 35's would kill power. But it might affect you more towing.

4.56s would be the way to go.

what about with the 4.6? ive never driven a 5.4 before so i dont know the power difference to begin with. i just really want the 35's cuz they look so good stuffed. i drive up some big hills everyday, cuz i have 265's also. i just want it to still be driveable. i mean its no racer as it is but it does fine.

I've got the 4.6 with 35s and a 6" lift. The only difference is that i have 3.73 gears. Power loss definatly noticable. The best value for your money will be swapping over to 4.56 gears to get your power back. Engine mods will help a little but not nearly as noticable as the gears will be.

If you do a lot of highway driving then I'd say go with 4.10 instead of the 4.56's. I have 4.10's with 35's and it puts the speedo pretty much back to stock. I'd be reving pretty high with 4.56's.
