Default Gear shifter indacator

Can anyone tell me or point me in the right direction on how to fix my gear shifter indacator in the dash of my 01 supercrew the little red line doesn't line up with what gear the truck is actually in (not a problem for me but confueses my wife)

there should be a little white gear under the steering wheel you can turn to adjust it, you have to get down there on your back to see it though.

There is actually a little black wheel to turn but it's under the steering column. Follow the steering column from the firewall and follow it toward the steering wheel and you should fine it. Just turn with your finger tips the correct direction.

Would either of you happen to have a picture of the wheel so I know I am messing with the right thing? And it's just out in the open or will I have to remove some pannels?

That is a perfect pic. As you can see it's located directly under the actual steering column.

So then I shouldn't have to remove any of the interior pannels to get to this?

No you don't. But there is a good chance that the white piece is broken. If so you can always just zip tie in place.

This thread has a good how to.
