Forced induction okay for stock engine?
I was looking on the web at various superchargers for my 2002 5.4 and even looked at just replacing it with a lighting engine. I desired to go with just installing a supercharger myself but I wanted to know if people have run into any issues doing it to a stock engine without forged pistons etc to handle.

As long as u got a decent tune and under 10psi you should be fine. Keep in mind that thought is on a fresh engine. Depending on miles u may want to at least throw some head gaskets and new piston rings. But since you are there might as well upgrade pistons. And since u have new pistons might put some boost compatible cams. And since......well you get the point. Treacly lightly on a tired engine under boost.

Gotta love those roots blowers. The cool thing about the Lightning is that the bottom end is forged. So if you find the entire engine, you are off to a pretty good start. But if not, the stock bottom end should be ok as long as it is healthy.

Straight up L swap sounds cool but by the time your done, your gonna have dropped some good coin and at the end of the day you still have a stock L motor....not that good of an investment.
Even an fairly stock L motor likes to go kaboom under the wrong conditions......rods are the weak link there.
If you want some seat of the pants action, drop a centrifugal blower on it with the appropriate upgrades and call it a day.
If you have some coin, put a mildly built motor in it with a roots blower and appropriate supporting mods and have a blast.
There is a member on here that did all that on his truck several years ago.....I think he even has a build thread....great while it lasted but he had his share of headaches.
