Just bought a 2003 fx4 supercab 5.4 and I tryed to turn the fog lights ( turn lights on then pull **** straight out to turn on the fog lights ) but it won't pull out.. Any ideas on what's up ? ( truck came with fogs on it and it's the fx4 so they're factory lights just the switch won't pull out after I turn lights on )

 

Well one the headlights have to be on to pull out the ****

Two pull the switch out to see if there is an obstruction blocking it take pictures if possible if be glad to help you out

 

Yeah headlights on switch turned fully to right just won't pop off from there.. I'll find a chitons manual and pop it out and take pics

 

This is my switch there are a lot of tiny clear plastic rivets holding the switch together I took mine apart and super glued it back when I put a jumper in and trimmed the plastic stop track so I was able to turn my fogs on at anytime not just when my heads were on I did it about 2 months ago and I haven't had any problems with the glue coming off but just in case I went to my local scrap yard an pulled another one

 

Seems dumb to not allow the fog lights to come on before the headlights. My 2007 Ranger can do that.

 

Sounds like someone replaced it with a non-fog light headlamp switch.

 

I agree....I can turn mine on in the AUTO position.

 

dealer just called and its a non foglight switch that someone put in there.. im wondering why the hell someone would do that

 

Must have been a cheaper replacement at some point.

Since you need to replace it, I would suggest doing a very simple mod that I did to my 01 Screw to run fogs without headlights.
