Default The everything thread

Hey guys, Im not sure if this has been done before but I thought I'd make a thread where people can post random issues they've had on there trucks and how they fixed them. Basically, I want any current or future member who has an issue with their truck to be able to scroll through these pages and find a solution to their problem. Random tips can be added also.

I'll start.

If your truck has a limited-slip differential and has a shake at certain speeds or chirps around corners, changing the differential fluid and adding friction modifier will fix this problem. When you here chirping your gears are sustaining damage. So it's best not to delay this fix.

Also, I didn't put this thread in the general section since each generation of trucks have their own issues an solutions.

If you need traction in the snow, add some weight(like sandbags) in the back of your truck to add traction

Tires can make or break a truck. Bad tires means bad traction. 4x4 or not.

If you need a replacement key for your F-150. Try going to homedepot. They can program a new key for you for $75 vs. way more at the dealership.

If you feel a shake in your brake pedal, it could be caused by multiple things. One issue could be warped rotors. Replacing rear your rotors could fix this. Warped front rotors will cause a shake in your steering wheel.

I had an anti theft issue where the truck would crank but not start. I troubleshooted to the best of my ability and ended up taking it to ford for diagnosis. They couldn't pin point the issue and wanted me to buy a new key with no guarantee it would fix the issue, then it would be a new receiver and then a new gauge cluster.

I had my anti-theft turned off in my sct tuner, no stupid pats problems anymore and I dont need a huge key for the truck anymore !

The dealer told me anti-theft can't be turned off

My truck clunks when I let off the gas.

Checked the diff and I have a ton of play in my spider gears, like 1/4" or more, I think that's causing the clunk.

I believe this happens when the forces change from acceleration to deceleration and the lash is taken up in the other direction.

Time for a new diff !! good excuse for an air locker or detroit locker

My power steering pump makes awful noises in cold temperatures. Can't even really describe the sound. So bad I took the serpentine belt off to make sure it was not the engine making those noises at cold start. Power steering pump went bad the next summer

Stangbang thanks for the input. I'll have to rememer that anti-theft trick, is there any specific tuner that needs to be used(I dont know much about tuners so idk if anti-theft options are standard)
