Default Engine swap question?

Has anyone ever taken a 97-03 F150 and put a 289 Windsor v8 in it?

I've had a truck with a 302 in it. It was a complete dog. I'm pretty sure the 5.4 has more power than any stock Ford pushrod small block. I can't imaging how bad of mileage and how slow a 289 in a full size truck would be.

Plus, I'm pretty sure no stock 10th gen tranny will bolt up and none of the instruments would function without major modification.

That's amazing for a 250 with a 302. My old f150 never saw much better than 12.

My 98 put down 308 to the wheels and gets 22 on the highway.

No Idea what my newest setup will put down, but with A4wd and 33's I'm averaging 20 on the interstate. I'll found out next minth what she does.
