Default Engine Sputtering. Need Help!!!

Alright so i bought a 97 f150 about a couple days ago and its been driving flawlessly and today i took it into work to detail the truck and wash the engine bay. As i was driving home the engine started sputtering and the engine light went on. The engine seemed liked it had half its power... At idle its sputtering and when accelerating at any speed it does also. I checked all coil packs and injector fitting and all seem to be tight and good. Looked at all electrical plugs and seem to be all connected. I then disconnected the terminal off the battery and then put it back on and started the truck and the engine light went off but the truck is still sputtering.. Any suggestions? Maybe water in some of the electrical connections?

Engine is 5.4 V8

Maybe around the spark plugs? Ummm... Mass Air Flow sensor? Not sure what else could do that... See if it still acts up in a day or so after it's had time to dry out.... You didn't spray the motor while it was hot did you? That can cause all kinds of thing to break if they are hot and you spray cold water on them...

No the engine was cold. I'll let it sit for a couple days and try it again. Anyone have any other ideas?

It was running OK before you sprayed water on it. After you sprayed water on it, it didn't run good. I would let it dry out good and try again.

I'd be ticked if water made mine run bad! LOL! I'm one of those people that is always on the lookout for the biggest puddle in town so I can make a huge splash! HAHA!

How do i check to see if a coil pack is fried? Take it out with the spark plug and ground it to the block to see if there is spark?
