Default Engine questions!!

Hey guys...i have 2 F150s. 1 is a 1997 the other is a 1998. the 1997 has a 4.6l vin code "6"...the 1998 has a 4.6l vin code "w"...i want to take the engine out of my 1998 and put it in the 1997 because the 1998 is falling apart and needs a lot of work and the engine is brand new. what is the difference in the engines? cuz i have no clue. i thought they were the same thing. can someone help me out.

Basically nothing. W means it is a Windsor motor, 6 means it is a Romeo engine, same engine just different origins of where they are built. I believe the Romeo engines came with both 6 bolt and 8 bolt flywheels, but as long as you have a flywheel for the engine going in, youll be fine.

The difference is,
Romeo = 11 bolt valve covers and 6 bolt flywheel

Windsor = 13 bolt valve covers and 8 bolt flywheel

All the accssaries are the same as well as pretty much everything else.

Youll be fine with computer, wiring harness and everything. Pull one out, put the other in hook everything back up and yer good to go!

Take the intake manifold off first and the swap will be 100 times easier. Unless you want to cut the core support and weld it back in... but Im not that kind of mechanic. These beast are a pain to remove and install.
