Unhappy Engine Issues

Driving my 2002 F150 5.4 on Hwy last night, heard a loud pop, like a plastic bottle popping, then truck started running bad. Sounds like air coming from around intake area. Any thoughts??? Thanks

It helps a lot when you have a problem like this for you to do everything you can to narrow down the issue before coming to us for help, it makes everyone so much more willing to help when you say I've done everything I know to do where do j go from here. Instead you had a problem didn't even bother to do your own research into the issue and came here hoping for a magical answer.

Sounds like it might have ejected a plug, but you'll have to raise the hood to see.

Is this more common in the triton motors than the 4.2L?

It is almost always attributed to the 5.4 Triton. The 4.6 is about bulletproof except for the older head gaskett/intake leaking problems. Look at this way, each manufacture has certain problems.

I asked for any thoughts on this issue. I didn't take up a lot of time saying, what I did, rather if anyone else had the same issue. It's people like you who have nothing better to do than criticize ones post as apposed to lend a answer. maybe you should have bought a chevy.

It's people like me who help solve problems, but when you give little to no info it's nearly impossible for all of us to give advice, what were you coming here expecting? I'd start with popping the hood as everyone else has said, sounds like you should have bought a Prius. Strike me as the type of guy who hands someone a flat head screwdriver when they ask for a Philips head. Good luck! The hood pop latch is down by the driver side kick panel, all you have to do it put your fingers behind it and pull forward.

By the info he provided 2 people had a pretty legit answer... It was also the first thing that come to my mind.... Blew a plug out... He did say it was coming from the intake area so how do you know he didn't pop the hood and look? You can't assume everyone that post here is mechanically inclined. He may have had no idea what to look for when he popped the hood so he came here to ask. He stated what knowledge he new on the issue, And the people that have knowledge gave him an answer unlike you..... Rant over
