Engine help plz.
Ok i posted just a couple days ago, about this only starting on 4th try. This has now changed. Last night it started ran 3 secs then died 3 times then no start at all. It just cranks i hear fuel pump running 2-3 secs so thats cool. But i did notice this none of my gauges are working. And odometer shows nothing doesnt even light up. Battery is new and even batt gauge doesnt move. Any ideas plz lol. Thanks again all.
Im sure you much smarter then this....
I managed an Advance Auto for a few years while waiting for my career to get started, any who one of the funniest things I came across was as follows.
A 22yr old (at the time) master car mechanic (in his head) know it all, can fix anything out there with out making mistakes- Installed a new battery in a vehicle for a nice looking lady. 30 mins goes by and I wonder where he is at, so I go to check on him. Both of them just looked lost. I asked what was wrong, he said "you tell me" she would start the truck and with in 3-5 seconds it would cut off. HE could not figure it out for the life of him. I grab 10mm wrench and head out, after a quick 30 second peak I see the obvious problem.....Positive and Negative battery cables were reversed....
Ahh to see his face again after showing him what rookie mistake he made!

The batt is about 3 monthes old has worked fine. The truck did that starting and diein thing 1 tima about a year ago on old batt. Didnt think nothing of it since it only happened once. Anyhow i just was in the garage messing around. Checked all fuses swaped relays nothing has changed. Still cranks no fire, rad, lights, windows work. When i turn the key in the on pos it makes the beeps/dings like normal fuel pump kicks on 2-3 sec then off like normal. But like i said befor gauges dont even try to move none of umm plus the odometer doesnt light up at all. Truck ran fine saturday.
Just now i went and checked every dummy light come on exept check engine when key in the on pos.

KK ty ima have batt and alt checked. Also i was thinking bad ground. Cause last night i left key in the on pos and after 5 mins the check engine light, brake light, 4x4 light started flashin rapidly. For the heck of it i cranked it over and it fired up but gauges were still dead. Then i shut it off turned key back to on pos and 3-4 mins later gauges pinged out then started reading the gas and batt levels again. I fired it back up gauges went dead. After that couldnt get the truck to start again. So first thing today ima check grounds everywhere pcm, ignition switch, gauges. I hope i find it lol ty again all.
Just a update. Last night i grabed a 12 pack and a test light, tore allmost all of the dash out to test grounds. Everything testing fine , all grounds all powers. I tested the cluster and pcm. Well i went to pull out my ignition so i could get the cover off. Nothing there, then when i went to put it back together the lock didnt want to slide all the way back into the colum. I used the palm of my hand hit it one time it poped right in and now everything works fine lol. So tomoro im gonna replace my ignition switch and pats coil/antenna. It has to be one of the two because thats the only thing right there that hitting it would have effected. As i said it works great now but.. i know its not truly fixed. I wanna thank the few who tryed to help me on this problem
