Look at the motors on mhpengines.com. $3k isn't gonna get you a motor and trans... $3k will get you a motor. My trans was like $1350 after shipping,a built trans you can tack an extra $800 onto. Mine is just a stage 1. Motors, stage 1 starts about $2900 for a short block. Maybe these more experienced folks will have a better suggestion, but if you can afford down time on your truck have your current engine built. I can't afford much down time myself

Yup,$5k will get you a motor and trans. I'm going Saturday to pick up a brand new short block for $3350 that's capable of handling 1200 hp and would cost $5k-$6k to build, thanks to I believe jacob or jferg for showing me that motor! Great deal.

Damn and the short block will fit in my truck with out any modification or fabrication too??
Also off topic question would it be smart to swap my gauges to show Rpms and all that other stuff?

The short block is just a 5.4 engine without heads on it.

And unless your throwing boost or gas at it you don't need a stage 3 short block.

Unless you're throwing a ton of power at it one of the cheaper motors will work. Unless you're building a race truck,a stage 1 will work.
