Default Drivers side window problem

Yes another one of these threads. After using search and reading and trying most of the "Fixes" I still need help.
Drivers side window wont roll down. Motor is good, regulator is good, Tried the GEM bypass, still nothing. Removed the button assembly and totally disassembled it cleaned the contacts still nothing. Volt meter shows continuity at all the contacts. After reinstalling them I can still hear the relay clicking during the OTD phase. I can roll the window up and down by jumping directly to the battery. Reverse the polarity and the window rolls down.
Any Ideas?

Thank You,
Terry

Did you check the door harness under the rubber boot between the cab and the door? That's a super common problem.

Hi Shift Lock,
Thanks for the reply. That's on the to try list. Was hoping for a less obtrusive fix. Guess I will do that next.

I screwed around with motors and tracing wires for two years, I had an intermittent passenger side that worked when it felt like it. I opened up and cleaned the switches, they looked great. I finally bought a new driver's side switch, problem solved.

RangoWa,
I swapped out the switch and still have the same symptoms. Motor clicks in the up position, solenoid in the fuse box clicks in the down position.
Shift Lock,
So if there were a broken wire in the boot between the door and cab would I still get the the solenoid click? Passenger window, mirror adjust and door lock all work.

If I remember right when my explorer did this I could hear a “click” but wasn’t enough voltage to roll the window down. I held the button down and moved the wiring around in the door jamb and it would start going down randomly.

Shift Lock,
I attempted your tip holding the button down and moving the wires in the door jam with no results. Multimeter reads at the back of the plug same as at the plug behind the kick plate. Voltage drops when button is held in the OTD position.

You said you cleaned the switch, then you replaced it? Did you replace it with a known good one? If you can run the window by bypassing everything then the problem would be wiring or the switch. And grounds are part of the wiring.

It a GEM problem. I went through the same exact thing and decided the GEM replacement wasn’t worth the cost/effort for the result and did the bypass from this video.
kip the first half then note there are 2 “tan/blue” wires. I made a new jumper harness for mine.

ncranchero,
thanks for the video. I followed the instruction and did the bypass and the window still doesn't roll down.
So far these are the things that I have done. GEM bypass, removed and cleaned the contacts in the buttons, checked power to and from the switch to the fuse box, replaced the relay, fuse. checked all the plug connections, checked for broken wire in the boot between door and cab. Nothing has worked. The window works fine when I run power directly from the battery to the motor both up and down. What am I missing?
