I think it was a option or just on higher trims my dads 2003 XLT Supercab has the red reflectors my 2003 King ranch Supercrew has the lights.

 

my 02 XLT has the lights. Not sure exactly when they stopped putting them in.

 

My 03 heritage edition had them.

 

I'm thinking it was a option.. my dads supercab has almost every option bucket seats power peddles sliding rear window 5.4 Fx4 package etc.. or they just put them on the trucks until they ran out and put the reflectors on lmao.. heres a picture of a 2003 king ranch one with the reflectors i'm starting to think it was when they ran out of the lights and stuff waiting for more or something..http://images.allamericanautomobiles...s/47919314.jpg

 

My 04 heritage edition had solid red covers with no light behind them, I just wired them up myself.

 

Neither my 2003 XLT nor my 2003 Heritage has them. However, on my XLT, I said "F*ck that" and wired in my own. Bloody things were super awesomely bright.







It was a bit of a pain to do, but I still might do it again for the Heritage.
