Default Differences in tires

Decided to go with a Nitto Terra Grappler. Looking at a 285/70/R17. Can someone tell me the difference between a Nitto P285 and a Nitto LT285? The P285 says 117S and the LT285 says E 126R.

Thanks

Its a the LT is a Load range E tire vs a Load range D.

If you use your truck for hauling or towing get the LT, otherwise the P will give you better ride quality.

On a 295 the width is around 12.50 and a 33.19 inch tire. A 285 is closer to an 11.50 width but is 32.72 tire. What's a better width for an 03 super crew?

Theres no way a 295 is a 12.50 because a 305 is a 12 and a 315 is barely a 12.50

Yeah, different tire manufacturers run different. But if you convert the metric mm sizes 305mm is real close to 12" and 315 is real close to 12.5" i know a mud grappler 315 is almost 13" wide while just about any other tire brands 315 is 12.2-12.5"
