Default Dash Lights

Hi All,

Does anyone know how to change the gauge cluster illumination color? I have a red truck with green lights that I would like to change to red.

Thanks!

I've seen a lot of instructions for other cars. Do you know if Ford uses LED's in their dashs or is it a bulb hidden somewhere like BMW's?

BMW uses fiber optics to transmit the light to all of the dash componants. They use one light bulb for the whole thing... I wonder if I could be so lucky.

I know the older fords used an incandescent bulb and using Theatrical lighting gels allowed you to change illumination colors.

If I remember right, when I changed out my gauges, there were white bulbs behind the stock gauges. I think the actual color comes from the back side of the gauges because the bulbs were white. I did change out the bulb behind the light switch to a blue LED, and that worked great since the bulb was green. Now I need to figure out how to change the rest of the lights in my truck.

OK I found my old gauge cluster in the closet and the green color is from the cluster itself. The white lights shine through it making it green. So good luck trying to change it.

the only way to change it to red is to change the gauges, or the gauge face. I changed mine to white face too and peeled the older sticker off, And like Chads got, you could find ones with red in them. Id shop around. then you could try what FOMOCO did and put some LEDs in.
