looks like either a new front cover or engine block is in order, hard to tell from that angle

That's the aluminum cover for the timing gear. Not the engine block.
I understand the confusion as y'all call aluminum something wrongly different.
Kind of a pain to replace but certainly doable.
May want to replace the chains and guides while in there.

A user @akdoggie can probably help with the part number.
Then you have to find someone to ship to the UK but I think it wouldn't be too difficult.

Here is a possible replacement on Ebay. Without knowing the year of the truck it may not be the correct one though.

I'd clean it up and be sure. There's oil there but what looks like a crack does not have the wetness of a leaking crack.

We just say it properly in the UK aluminium the truck is a 97 or 98 not checked the exact date yet, not as bad as I first thought then! Quite a bit of oil everywhere dripping all the way back to the sump plug so unsure if there is more leaks or just this one travelling back all the way from the front, might take off the crank pulley and see how far up the crack goes and use some jb weld in the meantime until I find a replacement and get it shipped over!

The timing cover part number is F65Z-6019-AB. It shows discontinued, but there are a number of sources available by that part number out there.

Interesting place for a crack. I'd love to know the story on how that happened.

Only just bought the truck and didn't spot the crack upon inspection, so it's anybodys guess how it happened.

Could possibly pull that off and get it welded.
