If you stripped them, chances are you were tightening them to fast and not thinking. That plastic isn't thick and you can't keep tightening the screw like crazy. When you feel pressure, quit turning..

I mounted mine there just a tad to passenger side cause of 4WD shifter. It doesn't touch, but my finger hits the bracket when I shirt it into 4HI, but it's not a big deal...

I think it's the most common because otherwise your left with hanging it from the headliner (there are some kits that put a storage tray up there) or taking advantage of the massive space between the dash and windshield. The only downside of up on the dash is everyone can see it and all you have to do to break into this body style is put a crowbar under the external handle trim and pop the entire piece out. If you have tinted windows and what not, its easier to go under the dash IMO.

That one of those little Midlands? Had one for a bit but really didn't like the TX and went to a full sized Midland (competing version of the Cobra 25) but it wouldn't stay on the right channel due to being completely controlled by IC logic and a bent board and ended up with a Cobra 25 that was peaked and tuned.

yeah its a Midland but i dont really use it for the CB i more use it for the PA system. So its alright with me
