I think it would be a waste of money. I don't see how it could possibly do anything to clean your converter with it being combusted with the fuel. Maybe if you removed the cat and soaked it in it.... but no, it looks like a gimmick to me.
There's good reviews on lacquer thinner (1 gal to a half tank of fuel) take the vehicle on the highway and get the RPM's up there until all of the fuel tank is emptied. Just sustain the speed for the remaining fuel and solution to completely burn through the system.
Others argue that lacquer thinner will deteriorate plastic and rubber seals in the fuel system....
buyer beware I guess. Many say it works though.
IF you are able to disconnect the catalytic, you can soak it in some hefty detergent overnight and then power wash it till all the soap runs out clean.
was your vehicle burning oil ? any idea how the catalytic got plugged ? how many miles on this catalytic ?
do you usually burn regular gas, with ethanol ?
Cataclean sounds like junk though. I know there's products that are sprayed through the air intake to clean the catalytic's.
Liqui Moly makes such a product and it has decent reviews on it.

I think the idea of pouring lacquer thinner into a half full tank of fuel then driving down the highway in 4th gear (if a 6 speed), or 3rd gear in a 4 speed for about 200 miles sounds like a fantastic idea.
Nothing like being 200 miles from home and needing a tow and when the tow driver asks "what happened"..... watching his expression.
Yeah sure, turn around and head home part way though. Story is less dramatic when paired up with the lacquer thinner idea for 12-14 gallons of continuous burn.

I get a kick out of the 1/2 tank idea. Half a tank on my F150 is 12.5 to 1 ratio, while my Toyota would be a 5.5 to 1 ratio. Just laughable that this is considered to be some science hack.
On an everyday hatchback car for city driving, you can see a typical catalytic like this. Remove it and use a power wash. You can soak it in detergent as well if you like.
Just use a new exhaust manifold gasket upon reinstallation.
