I got that same floor tile in my kitchen.

I tried Cataclean in an explorer that was setting cat efficiency code. Scan tool said cat eff was at 78% before cataclean. I'm told that eff must be above 80%.
I used cataclean and it changed my cat eff to ...

Wait for it....

78%.

Yup.It work well. It took my $ and gave me nothing. I assume that is the real intent of selling it.

The spark plug fouler trick got it to 92% and cost much less.

So - what is the plug fouler trick, please? Both of my cats are throwing codes off and on. Each are over 93% now. 2013 F150 Lariat 5.0 with 200,700 miles. I don't think this is bad enough to justify changing out both cats yet - everything runs fine (love my truck!) but I am concerned about pulling my camper for a 2-3 hour trip with some mild hills. Not sure where the line is for changing out. $1800+ just for parts. Any help?
Thanks!

It doesn't always work but it is cheap when it does work. you need 18mm threads in the non fouler.
This can explain it

Thanks for the quick response! Not sure if this will help me? So - if this got you to 92% on your cats and I'm still at 93+ without excess load (camper) am I still at risk of burning up a cat while pulling the camper?

I only learned about this last night.... but my Buddy was showing me some of the "non fouler" pieces that he purchased, and they actually have some material from a cat in them. So it also it breathing like it has a cat hooked up.

The big issue I've seen with the Coyote's is they use oil. A lot of guys are adding catch cans to Coyote's to reduce/eliminate the oil usage. Some of them go through a quart every 1000 miles.

If you are getting 93% eff and still setting a light, then the eff pass / fail threshold has greatly increased since 2003 (year of explorer).
From my understanding converters overheat when too much unburned fuel is being sent into the exhaust. That should set a code for that bank being too rich.
I am not a catalytic converter expert.
