CAI mod
I bought a CAI idk what brand but the tube from the filter to engine is alumnim or however you spell it lol, but anyways I was thinking all the heat coming off the engine hits that tube and gets it really hot! And the air going through there gets hot too. What if I took that tube and insulated it somehow?? Maybe heat tape they use on racecar headers? Maybe that insulating tape? Any thoughts?
You could try it, but I dont think it would make a difference. My reasoning is the air being sucked in the filter will be cooler, and that short distance to the throttle body shouldnt change the air temp inside the aluminum tube because the outside of it would get warm.
I havent put one on my truck yet but its on the list. I have put one on my vic, and it will get quite warm by the throttle body from the engine, but it runs so much better now I wouldnt notice it.

I don't think insulating it would make a noticable difference but it's worth a try. Have you ever read about the gotts mod CAI? Here's a link. I just did it to my supercrew today.

I would be interested to see if building better heat-shielding around the filter would make any difference... I have a K&N and the "heat shield" must do a pretty half-assed job as the filter is red hot as soon as the engine is up to temp... I even wonder if ducting is plausible to force more cold air up into that area? I saw somewhere that Banks make a kit to ram air up into their Cummins filter kit...

If anyone wants to modify their aftermarket intake setup you could make something out of this.

Just wrap this stuff around something like cardboard and tape/hot glue gun together a shield.
