Default Bumper Replacement???

I have a 2004 Heritage Edition F-150 and I recently got in a wreck due to the car in front on me having no break lights or turn signals whatsoever. Well it turns out that f-in Geico, who represents the lady with the crappy car, denied the claim. I am not filing this under my insurance so I am doing it myself. The parts are coming from LMC trucks as I have heard they are reputable. My question is do I have to replace all of the brackets that bolt to the frame or just the outer bumper braces on both sides. The bumper is bent down like I am told it is supposed to after a wreck. Any tips on removing and replacing the old and new bumper would also be appreciated.

I have posted a link, could someone tell me if I would need parts 13,14,15,and 16 for this project???

Thanks in advance, Sean

LMC is freaking HIGH on their shipping. Decent parts, just too expensive on shipping imo.

As far as removing the bumper, just unbolt the banged up stuff and bolt the new stuff on and make sure it's all aligned. As far as what you need goes, you may want to tear it down before ordering. That way you can see exactly what you need. Better safe then sorry...

Good luck!

I am not really too worried about the cost of it all, I just want it fixed. Yeah I have ordered everything except the bumper to frame bracket as I am just curious if that could have even got messed up. I wonder if I order it then I don't need it if they will take it back.

I have done this on my 97 so I know it's a little different but getting the old bumper off of the brackets is pretty tough so you might want to pull off the brackets from the frame and spray the bolts holding the bumper to brackets and let them soak overnight. It is much easier to pull the bumper off with it on the ground so you don't have to hold it up for the last few bolts.

It depends if those brackets are bent..... My front bumper is jacked up and when I took it off, it wasn't to hard. You'll have to check if those brackets are bent. I think mine still are because it drops 2" on each side... but I used a press to bend it as straight as I can.

Thanks, I just went ahead and bought all the parts I might need to do the jobs and the parts I don't need I will send back. The truck is stored an hour away and I dont feel like just driving to check that out.

You're sueing her, right? In California, if the insurance company doesn't work with you, you can just sue the person directly in small claims court. No lawyers, no big hassle, no insurance companies. After you win, her insurance company ends up paying the bill, but you aren't dealing directly with them. I believe the maximum you can sue for is $10,000. I actually did this and won $900 after the insurance companies tried to place the blame on me. I don't know how it works in other states though.
