im just yanking your chain man.

did you check the relays under the hood? they would make a clicking, not fuses. is it possible the starter is grounding out? or maybe the alternator?

well, where all those are a possibility. ok, so when you put the battery in, it did start, right? b/c sometimes a low battery will cause a clicking noise b/c the starter is not getting the correct voltage to start the vehicle.

Remove your starter, have that bench tested.

Remove your alternator, have that bench tested.

Return with results for further instructions, do not blindingly replace parts.

I would also go with the advice from mawk and ebxgsxr-you have a voltage drain, have them bench tested. good possibility may be in alternator. good luck

This will likely not help you but I'll throw it out there anyway. I had a 91 with wiring for trailer towing. Under the bed one of the wires were grounding out. I taped that up and all was well. Godd luck!
