Default Another Engine Hesitation Thread

So I know that there are other threads about the engine hesitating and stuff like that. And Ive read a few of them so give me credit. But I still think I need to post my question.

So today I came home from work, about a 10 minute drive. The road wasnt the smoothest, it has a lot of patches and stuff in it. And right now, my truck rides kinda rough because I have the torsion keys turned up. (I have an alignment scheduled, so I will be turning them down soon)

But when I got home, I unloaded a few things but then had to leave again. When I was getting onto the highway, I gave it a good amount of gas, prolly 3/4 throttle to get up to speed with traffic.

But instead of accelerating like it normally does, it hesitated badly. It was struggling to get up to 20-30mph. After a few seconds, it kinda woke back up and started accelerating kinda like usual.

I noticed it kept struggling accelerating until I got home. it has never done this before and I'm not sure where to start. Im hoping that it wont happen in the morning when I have to drive it again. But im wondering, could have something been knocked loose? Or what might have happened?

I will keep you posted if it continues or not.

Water anywhere? I had a bad rain storm yesterday, ran through a huge puddle. Now my 150 runs like crap. Misfire on 1 and 6 cylinder. Replacing the coil packs didn't help at all. seems similar to what you are seeing. Throttles good at high RPMs, but getting it to rev in gear is hard. Slow going at first, then OK for 25-55 mph and high revs, but 4th gear is awful all the way. Got a firing problem somewhere, just not sure where.

Okay so the truck ran okay today. Still noticing not as much throttle response as usual.

I have two trouble codes:
P0171 too lean Bank 1
P0174 too lean Bank 2

Im thinking it is the fuel filter or fuel pump. The truck has 99,000 miles on it.

Okay so today I cleaned the maf and replaced the fuel filter. Replacing the fuel filter was actually more of a PITA than i expected it to be.

But so far, it seems like the problem has been solved. It looks like it has been a while since that filter has been changed. Im hoping that was the problem.

I am looking at doing the same. And I was gonna pull mine just to check it. It IS aggravating for sure.

Yeah it was way more aggrivating than i thought it would be. Just a simple fuel pump swap, easy, right? No, i wasnt happy when i found out that i have to go down to the parts store just to get the dumb thing off. And the tool cost more than the new filter cost!!!!

Once you have the tool though, it is pretty simple. Didnt expect it to take that long though.

Not suprised it was the fuel filter. One of those things most people over look doing routine maintenance. And yea having the right tools pays off every once in a while lol just charge your buddies to use it when they need it and make your money back! Sounds like you got it solved pretty easily and cheap tho!

Yeah i have been overlooking the fuel filter for a while. Glad I caught it when i did. But the Edge sure helped to figure out what was wrong!! Amazing these days, sometimes the electronics are a total PITA and other times they really help. This time the truck actually told me what was wrong!
