Am I Chasing a Starter?
So I'll try and give all the information that I can. I've got a 2000 SCrew Lariat with 245,000+ miles on it. In the last couple months, I've had the intake manifold replaced, along with the plugs since the mechanics were already in there, and I replaced the alternator. The battery isn't that old and is measuring 12.4 cold.
Yesterday, it reached around 90*+ outside for the majority of the day. I got home, and went to start the truck and it wouldn't turn over and run. It would crank like it wanted to go, but just wouldn't turn over. Left the truck alone for a couple hours and tried to start it again. Same thing happened. This morning, after leaving the truck alone all night, I decided to try it again. Fired right up. Shut it off, and it started again.
Yesterday when I couldn't get it started, I got underneath the truck and tapped the starter with the tire iron, but obviously it didn't work at that point. When I reached up and grabbed the starter, it was warm, going on hot, to the touch. The tank is full enough that it shouldn't be a fuel pump issue, but I did replace the pump in the last five years. I'm not sure as to when off the top of my head. Also, the fuel filter has been replaced in the last 10,000 miles or so.
Is the starter the right thing to chase after? Should I be looking elsewhere? Thanks for any help.

Best way I can describe it is it churns. I've had it before where if I turn the key, I can hear a click but nothing with the motor. This, I can hear the motor, but no clicking. I've tried jumping it, but nothing changed. Hopefully that makes some sense.
If the engine is spinning, unless it's spinning really slow. Then the starter seems ok. ALL the starter does is spin the engine. Either you are not getting spark or fuel. You COULD try a little (and I DO MEAN A LITTLE) starting spray into the throttle body and see if it wants to catch. If not you are looking for spark

Might be a dumb question, but how difficult is it to replace a fuel pump? I'm planning on taking my bed off already this weekend, so I should have easy access to it, I believe.
