wires in doors looked ok. There was a splice done for driver side window motor. I did notice today when pushing unlock button driver door not unlocking, light comes on. When pushed second time passenger door unlocks and driver door seems to be struggling. when driver door open lock makes no noise at all, but when pushed second time lock seems to move freely? Two questions would be is lock motor going bad and would this affect alarm system? thanks

I have had the first plug unplugged from module all weekend and alarm has not gone off! I am able to lock and unlock doors and chirp horn and lights like alarm is set. I would believe I need to look at whatever feeds that plug? Just need to find wiring diagram to trace back. Hopefully figure this out.

One step forward!

I have diagrams for my '99, but hesitate to suggest referencing these since Ford made so many changes from the 97/98 to 99-03.

I have similar issues, but I don't care if I am ever able to remote open the doors, or whether the truck has a functioning anti-theft system (It's a beater). Can I just remove that box forever without messing anything else up? Thanks!

Thanks very much! That's what I was hoping. Did you bother to remove the module, or just disconnect the wires to it?

I removed it to replace it, but new did same thing. Thought it was easier to disconnect wires with it unmounted

Thanks again! I removed the module this morning, and the red "theft" indicator did not light up when I locked the door. I unlocked it with the key, and the alarm did not go off (first time that has not happened in a while), so I think it's fixed! I'll be checking this site often from now on as I get this '97 F150 back into good condition. Really appreciate the quick help, ddgts68, and the original post.

I'm having a similar problem with my alarm. (97 F150) I have the same key bob that ddgts has. Mine has gone off about 6 times in about 4 weeks. It will go off a few time about 4 to 8 hours and the no problem for a week. I wont even lock the doors and it still does it. I think it was locked only once when the alarm went off. It is a pain at 2:30 AM.

I maybe having a more problems. Last Friday getting ready for work It would not start. Not a dead battery, light were bright but used jumper cable anyway.
When I turned the key, nothing. Turned the key on and off 3 or 4 times real fast and both door locks locked and unlocked 3 or 4 times.
I disconnected the battery and went to work. When I got home Fri. evening and reconnected the battery, it starts like nothing was wrong.
Had the alarm go off yesterday, Sunday while I was mowing the lawn, (truck was unlocked again).

The wife said she does want to ride in it anymore and thinks it maybe possessed.

I will look to see if I have the same alarm box that was pictured before tonight.
