That would be worth it to me if it gets fixed. Every time it gets in rain I can't drive the friggin' thing for a couple weeks or I have to pull the GEM and fuse box to dry it out.

On the a piller right at the corner of the window is a seam in the cab. The two layers of overlapping steel. They are spot welded and seam sealed.

OK, and mine has evidence of that leaking from the inside. I can see a "trail" in the dust. Then it pools in a valley in the lip that goes across the back of the dash. After that valley is full, then it leaks onto my fuse box.

Ya know, I am so sick of this, I had a thought of drilling a hole in the valley, and putting a nipple hanging downward and then attaching a tube/hose to it, and running it through the firewall. LOL

I have a 1998 f150 now and it has this problem too, I only skimmed this thread but wanted to share a work around I have found thet lets you exit without setting the alarm.
If you use the fob to lock your doors after exiting, you will notice that the alarm arms(indicated by the red 'theft' light on the dash),
However, you can exit the truck without setting the alarm simply by
1.from inside the truck, push down the passenger side **** by hand to lock the passenger door.
2. exit through the drivers door and before closing it, push down the drivers side lock-**** to lock that door
3.close the door and notice that the 'theft' light stays off.
4. confirm this by trying the door handles and you'll see that the alarm is not on.
5.?????
6. profit.

you don't have a car alarm now but your alarm wont randomly go off either.
sorry if this is common knowledge.

Good info Rad Dog! I'm sure that will help someone in need.

With my 98, it was just like what carcrazy and white89gt was referring to. At the overlap, I welded mine up solid, it was a easy and quick solution. After doing so I still packed the area w/butyl. It's been a few years and I haven't had the problem reoccur since. I could see where the water intrusion started and formed a mote out of butyl to confirm leakage before going ahead with the repair.
