It appears that there may have been a factory installed alarm of some sorts. This is listed in the fuse panel under the steering wheel as fuse 8. I figured since 97 does not have PATS, anti-theft was not an option. However, as Carcrazy said, he has one. (I'd really like to see that module if you can get me a pic Carcrazy).

As you can see, this fuse is also where the radio draws its constant power. So if pulling this fuse proves to be the fix, we'll need to know the location of the said module. Here's a pic of the fuse panel, and I highlighted the location of fuse 8.

Out of curiosity, is there a special set of circumstances that triggers your alarm? Like rain? After a car wash?

I will remove #8 fuse and see it the problem goes away.
Re car wash / rain issue Was it at a car wash, the alarm did not go off. Yesterday it was raining or just stopped raining when the alarm went off. After the second time the alarm went off yesterday, I disconnected the battery to end the problem. Going to pull the fuse now and re hook up battery. Will see if problem is gone

Sounds like the gem is getting wet. The rap module is located under the dash as well. Possible front windshield leak.

Yeah, I think that just might be.

Richard, I would start taking note of the circumstances like rain, recent car wash, etc. when this happens. My Expedition tries to start itself when it rains. When it gets a little warmer I am going to be using all kinds of silicone to seal the damn thing up.

Also check for water pooling on the drivers floor or a wet drivers floor.

The problem isn't the window seal itself but a the seal of a pillar where the steel over laps. It's seam sealed and over time the seam sealer hardens and cracks and begins to leak. To properly fix it the windshield needs to be pulled. I had ford fix mine a couple years ago because glass shops are retarded.

That's exactly what I am dealing with. I've had the asshat that installed the windshield "fix" it twice, and he says it is impossible to be leaking. Maybe I'll try the dealer. How much did they charge you, and did they use the same windshield again?

Is cost me around $250. They were able to remove the glass with out breaking it.

Now that I've read that a couple of times.... are you saying that this is an area that the windshield installers should be sealing, and are missing? Or do you mean it's a seam weld on the body?
