Default Air filter

If your going to do the Gotts mod, A better air filter is needed to reap the bennefits. What is the filter of choice amongst the readers of this post ? Besides the K/N type that have a negative oil affect on the MAF.

aFe Pro dry or Amsoil nanofiber top for flow and filtration. Wix is also a good option for the best filtration.

i used a spectre with no gotts mod and felt a tiny change

but i just got a full spectre intake and felt a big change and it sounds like a turbo sometimes when it shifts and it also made my exhaust have a deeper tone

Yes I have. Got the little lady one for her car. Read the filtration specs/ cfm numbers and ordered one a while back. I inspected it throughly when it came and was impressed. 99.5% filtration and only flows a little less than an oiled filter.

Oiled filters like the K&N only filter at ~98% efficiency. Many show higher silica levels in used oil analysis due to more particles coming in to the engine. They flow more air because there is less filtration. Plus more dirt and oil can foul MAF sensors if not cleaned regularly.
That's what I consider "wrong" with K&N filters, the extra flow doesn't give that large of return for more dirt in the engine to me.

I have been doing some research and pricing, The AFE Pro dry looks to be a very good choice. So far the best price I can find online is $50 shipped from Amazon....... Amazon, who'd a thunck ? Did the gotts mod today, it amazed me how small that opening really is when you get it out and look at it. I used the thin wall pipe, It was too easy. A step in the right direction and now on to the next.
Thanks for the input.

Do a search for " aFe 10-10004 " , That's the part number for the dry filter. 11-10004 is the oiled type. The link for Amazon should be in the list, Thats how I found it. I used Google. The price will show $74.94 but when it's added to your cart the discounted price will show.
