Traction bars tie the axle to the frame to prevent it from wrapping, or twisting on hard take off. Most of the kits I've seen for these trucks have been for lifted 4x4's

Not on a 97-03, you shouldn't need them unless you're pushing big power and have trouble hooking.

Oh. And I'm sorta thinking of turning my truck more into a street truck later down the road, definitely not any time soon
