I HAVE A 2000 F-150 AND I RECENTLY INSTALLED A LIFT KID AND SOME A/T TIRES TO GIVE IT THE 4X4 LOOK , BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT ISN'T 4X4 AND I REALLY WANT IT TO BE. THEY TOLD ME THAT IF I PUT IN A 4X4 DIFFERENTIAL AND A LITTLE MORE MODS IT WOULD TURN IT INTO A 4X4. HAS ANYONE ELSE EVER HEARD OF THIS?

THANK YOU!

thread of the year...

But .. Yes you can make your 2wd...into a 4wd... Its a detailed process... Im pretty sure if you are asking if you can do it you are not ready to do it ...You will need a transmission...transfer case... front end with gears that match your rear gears...front and rear drive shafts...front end...linkages and wiring for transfer case...

Yeah....pretty much a new truck...trade your 2WD for a 4WD a lot cheaper.

Like everyone said, you would be much better off selling yours and buying a 4x4. It can be done, but... Azzload of work and expense.

My retarded cousin did it on a 82 and 98 F150. Both of them were pieces of crap but he got all the parts for next to nothing for both projects and he doesn't have a job or a life. He claims he did the 98 in one weekend but that I'm not positive about.

front axle, front suspension, front d-shaft, t-case, tranny, rear d-shaft, computers to make it all work together. someone before said the frames are different so nothing stock will line up and youll have to make it all fit from scratch. you still wanna do it??
