Default 97 Supercab third door problem.

I was just trying to open the third door on my supercab and it seemed locked. Then I closed the main door and it broke the lever that I assume keeps you from opening the third door while the main door is closed. Anyone ever run into this problem and what all is involved? Thanks

That happens quite a lot. There are a couple threads here about it, I'll take a quick glimpse.

I'm not sure if those guys had the same problem. I think that I will drill the rivets out of the handle in the jam area. It seemed like to me that something went wrong with it. The door wouldn't open. When trying to open it felt like I was trying to open a locked door, only spring resistance on the handles, no sound from either latch while pulling the handles. The lever on the door jam handle that locks out third door when main door is closed, was froze. I tried to work the lever with my hand but it wouldn't move. My wife walked by and shut the main door and it broke the lever off. I may be wrong but, I wouldn't think if a cable broken at a latch would make the lever freeze up.

Well I know that I'm going to have to replace the handle in the jam ( the one you would use from outside of the truck. It is riveted in withe large rivets. I what's hoping to drill the rivets out and be able to work the to open the door. I'm pretty sure the problem is with the handle since the lever broke off. I am going to go out there this evening when cools off a little and pull the handle out. I don't like the idea of removing the trim panes with the door closed.

Well I got the door panel off and the retaining part on both ends of the upper latch cable were broke. I'm not sure why the the lever broke on the jam handle. The cable isn't replaceable. You have to buy the latch. I'm sure it's costs too much. It's off to the wrecking yard in the morning.
