The original has the back cut down to fit the dash, so the plastic piece in the back of the radio hole has to be removed, but that isn't a big deal. The radio looks like this: Video Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/262486941448?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true I personally had a 2007 Escape Hybrid radio in mine with navigation. Same size, and other than a quick make up harness from original to the Escape head, and it was up and running. You would need a Metra 70-1771 and BT1770 kit to make the perfect harness adapter. You don't use the whole BT kit, but you do have the secondary plugs if you want more speakers available to you. With those pieces and a little putting them together, you are set. I did pull that head out last weekend and replaced it with my Android that I had since January. Lazy I know. I like having my phone as a hotspot and making my radio into a full fledged computer, if necessary. I have over 14000 MP3 songs and numerous MP4/AVI movies on it for my Grandson to watch. I have an overhead console for DVD's, but I'm going to add a 10" monitor, fold down unit to run off the Android head, so that I can let him watch what he wants, in the back, via remote. Very neat system available this way. There is also an app that cuts the video from the front, and only allows it to the rear, via RCA outputs. I haven't downloaded that yet, only because I don't drive the truck very much in the summer. I also have 2 internal cameras pointed at each opposite side windows. This allows me the comfort of having any person come to my windows being recorded, just in case. Good thing is if you want, you can send the video live, if you feel threatened. A bit of safety on my part, I feel.
would an 05 work? I've got a 6disc from my wife's 05 escape just sitting in a box. took it out cz I upgraded my truck and gave her my old one. They look pretty similar IIRC

my dads old expedition had one of those, I'm pretty sure the next owner got a nice surprise of CDs lol

If it has the 2 holes on each side and is the same dimension as 06, which it has to be, then yes it will work great. You just have to modify the inner panels to accept a full sized box. Good deal actually.

Whatever 6 disc radio you put in, make sure it just has two plugs on the back, not 3. Some expeditions, escapes, explorers, navigators, etc had factory subwoofers with very similar looking 6 disc radios. They'll work, but won't sound right.

I have decided to go aftermarket since I have researched and found many similar problems with ford radios. One place offers to repair for 185 but will not guarantee the 6 cd player. I can get a very good aftermarket with that and have no more problems.

I've decided I'm going to sell my factory 6 CD Changer. I have no use for it and I have plans to do something with that section of the center console. Going to post it in the B/S/T soon. If anyone wants dibs, shoot me a PM.

Just thought I would let anyone who's interested know that I posted my 6 CD changer up in the B/S/T. I will link the thread below.
