Default 5.4 Seized...HELP!

Pulling a 5.4. Front crank main bearing has seized up the engine. Any good ideas on how to get engine to turn to get to the torque converter bolts?

Take the oil pan off and remove the front main cap. Should free up the main bearing if thats the actual problem.

Its a 4wd so no taking the pan off. I think we'll drop the trans and t-case and go from there.

You can have the front diff out in a 1/4 the time it takes to get the trans out.

How are you able to tell that it's the front main that's seized? I have unseized engines before. If you remove all spark plugs you may be able to work the crank back and forth a little with a breaker bar and socket. I'd also remove serp belt and try it. Even a half turn might allow you to access those T/C bolts.

Use a flexible socket or adaptor. With transmission mount removed, the tranny will hang down a little lower giving you a little more room. Just be sure to unbolt fan shroud beforehand and careful not to stretch hoses & wiring harness too much. You'll get them out.

In these trucks you can not get to them with out dropping the trans crossmember first and tilling the engine back, or you have to remove the intake and get at them from top.
