Default 2wd into 4wd conversion

I have a 99 F150 4.6 V8 ext cab 2wd manual transmission that I want to convert into a 4wd... any advice?

you must not because if you did you would know that converting 2wd to 4wd is not worth the time or money. Just buy a 4wd truck

haha umm I am telling you it would be more cost effective for you to buy a 4wd truck.

I got the truck for a damn good deal and I want to keep the manaul trany. I've already found axles and transfer cases for pretty cheap... so not trying to sound like a dick but explain..

well it makes a difference if you do your own work - labor price goes out the door. Now you just have to worry about time and parts.

best thing to do would to buy a 4x4 truck same body and cab and take all the parts off of it. correct me if im wrong but i think you'll have to get a new tranny any way

yes he will have to get a new tranny. You best bet is to try to find a 4wd parts truck similar to your with the 4.6 and manual tranny preferably with the engine shot so you can get it for pretty cheap. I am pretty sure you will have to replace the whole front end because everything is different. This topic has come up a few times but it has been dismissed rather quickly, if you think you can pull it off by all means go for it. If you really like the truck I would suggest you find manual tranny 4wd parts truck and swap the cabs and your engine.
