Default 2002 xlt sub box

So my name is nick and I'm new to the forum. I have a 2002 xlt extended cab and I want to put a system in it, but I know there's not much air to play with under the seats. I'm thinking of just doing a box for a single 12 with plenty of air space. What all can I do without modding my seats?

I just built my own today (Pics to come) total internal is .49ft3 .42ft3 after sub is installed. I'm using a pioneer 10" shallow mount ts-sw251. So far with little tuning it sounds great. The box is under the driver side rear seat and goes half way across the back no mod needed.

My system in my 02 xlt scab

Alpine 9887
Alpine MRV-F450 5ch
Infinity Kappa 5x7 all doors
Pioneer ts-sw251 10" shallow mount

here are the rough outside dimensions of my box.
starting from front left going ccw. 29"front, 12r side, 14back (1), 5L side by seat mount, 15back (2), 7L side. the whole box is 6" tall built with .75 MDF. the right side has a added 2" height as a spacer. This is a down fire box.

hope this helps like a i said I have not added pics yet.

I got mine for my supercrew at supercrewsounds.com

A little pricey but worth it in the end. Box sounds great.

Thanks, that helped a lot. Gave me a whole new idea on what I could do. I've had a full sheet of 3/4 MDF, silicone, terminals, and a whole wood working shop just trying to figure out what design to use. And that website is pretty useful too, I could build a box like that.

Box is cool under the seat. I have two 12" kickers I'm waiting to install but my rear seats don't fold up(99 EXT)and I have the 6disc CD which is under those seats. So I'm thinking about putting one box on the middle seat and one b/t the center console and mid seat on floor in rear...

One thing I thought would be cool is to go to a salvage and purchase another short sear since the rears are 60/40 seats and building a center console that doubles as a box. I had the plans for it drawn up and everything but it would only work for one 12 or 15 which is plenty for what I want.
