1997 disc brake conversion
It may be easier to swap out the rearend for a '97 F250. By the time you figure in cost for a kit, & your time (curse words optional) I don't see a lot of difference.
Then you may have to look at a bigger booster, possibly replacing the proportion valve. Stock components might not be enough.

I can see that. It's what you get for what you pay. Now there's a circle track parts distributor online that has a kit for around $3300. That's for a 8.8" 5 lug.
That would be the trick there, but who wants to go that route, or question is.....
Do you want it that bad?

I was looking into doing this a couple months back and wasn't able to find any kit worth a damn and didn't feel like swapping the rear axle. Ended up buying a full drum rebuild kit off Jegs. Came with everything except the pistons/calipers. Pretty solid kit noticed a big improvement after finally breaking them in fully. Also did Powerstop brakes up front with a fancy pair of drilled & slotted rotors. Stops much, much better.
