Default Small Sub/Box/Amp combo.

I want a small sub combo for my truck. I would prefer the OEM Audiophile setup but I missed out on SinCity's by a few days. Obviously must be shallow mount due to lack of space. Let me know if you know of anything or have anything.

Thanks in advance.

i have a sub in my 98 reg. cab and i just ordered a box off ebay (checked measurements...). you may have to move the seat up a couple inches but it's definetly worth it for the sound. try for a shallower mounting depth on the sub... i would by far suggest the kicker comp. they're cheap and great quality

I wouldnt mind the specs...I do carpentry work often and am thinking about building my own box...II built one for my 05 reg cab to house my 12 kicker and it sounded great...Its just kind of a hassle. What specs did ur aftermarket box come with...How does it fit?

dplummer im glad you see the good of building your own box vs prefab if you have the equipment!!

you can simply take a pre fab design off of ebay or some other site for your truck and take the measurements and do it yourself just make sure you take into account the fact pre fab boxes are 5/8's and you will do 3/4 im hoping

I am not afraid to do the aftermarket fabwork but what it boils down to is that I am under a 10 year 100,000 mile extended warranty and I do not want to run into any issues at any point if I have electrical troubles and give the dealer some weasle way out of a claim due to aftermarket additions. I have the radio with the ability to have the sub and also have all the wiring already there. If I can do this with only adding the box/sub/amp from the factory, why not? I am not looking for anything that is loud. I do not want to be able to hear anything outside the truck and do not want to have to get into seat risers and all that sh*t.

If you have checked the plug under the seat and behind the HU. That is your only way to ensure to OEM wire splicing. Unless you change HU. IF you have both sides of the plug then the audiophile sub is the option. If you want one I will keep my eyes peeled on some of my other sites and ebay for ya...

And DP....I will try and get you the specs before I head to Cali this PM. If not, I will get it for you when I get back.

If I still had my table saw I would have went this way. But $100 buck for that box was too easy for me

lenn you can do aftermarket things

you just take into consideration the size of your battery, the size of your alternator (130 amp) and then you look at the amp draw of your amp, if it is more than 130 amps get a 2nd battery, if not then you wont have a problem

Yeah, i have really only had 1 aftermarket box, (my first one) after that, i started to try and learn the science behind it (air space, ported vs un-ported, type of board to use, thickness, etc) and enjoy working with my hands so building my own box's really made sense. I have not gotten too fancy, just basic stuff. However, I am thinking about getting a hold of the factory sub/amp and building my own ported box...Would it sound better or worse? I do not know the specs of the factory subs and amps...but would like to get what i can out of it.
