Default thinking of moving to NY

Hey guys,

My wife and i are thinking about moving to New York, I'm orginally from New York. I am looking for jobs up there, also i'm trying to deside if i should sell my f-150 here in texas and buy a 4x4 here or wait till we move and then try to sell/ trade in my truck up there?
Any thoughts would be great.

Thanks,

Jeff

Buy one down there. You will get a better condition truck for the money. assuming your not buying new.

if you are then it really doesn't matter.

It seems like atleast 75% of '04+ F150's around here are 4x4's so thats what people want, especially with having to drive thru the winter. You might have better luck selling a 2wd in Texas.

Im from the Albany area.

Good luck on the move. Should be plenty of housing since it is predicted that 69,ooo people will be leaving the state in 2011. There was a top ten list on yahoo of the states where the most people were moving out, New York was #1. I live in Troy, NY and we (the whole state of NY) are getting taxed to death.

amen on the taxes! everytime you turn around the state is trying to stick it up our *****e$ somehow! If I didnt just buy a house and have such a good job I'd be one of the 69,000 leaving. The price of stuff goes up and taxes go up but our wages all seem to stay the same...

Definitely guarantee yourself that you're going to make on the deal with your salary and housing situation. I can't personally speak on how much decent housing is in binghamton but I live on long island and I know a few people that are choosing to leave based on their salary to housing cost ratio.
Also just want to give you a heads up on who our new governor here intends on going after first (state employees). He wants to implement a hiring freeze for all state employees in order to combat the states debt. I'm a teacher so I got this as an update from my union. Should be a fun year ahead. Not that I'm complaining, I'm going to continue to get paid no matter what.

Unless you love paying school taxes to support juvenile delinquents, DO NOT move into the Binghamton school district, and Vestal is just as bad.

I love the area, moved here from Massachusetts, and will not move back. Housing is relatively inexpensive, but again, the two school districts I mentioned are brutal for taxes.
