Default Windshield needs replaced

Who does good automotive windshield replacements? They have a Safelite near me not sure of any others. The dealers I have called so far do not do windshield replacements. Do some dealers do them? Or is Safelite a good trusted company?

Do a quick check with your insurance to verify if you have windshield replacement cheap on your policy. If not obviously don't go through insurance at all. Safelite is the big dog around my area of Northern California and they seem to do quality replacements. I need my windshield replaced as well but I had a guy fill the crack with whatever he was pedeling in the parking lot of WalMart for $40 and the crack hasn't gotten any bigger since then.

Has anyone had theirs replaced? Just wondering if they are going to remove and chance breaking a bunch of s*** in the process. Thanks.

If you use a reputable company it should be little to no impact on you or your truck, they will remove the outside trim pieces, rearview mirror, then insert a wire saw and go all the way around, remove it . Clean up the mounting area and then put some new adhesive down, install new windshield, reinstall trim and rear view mirror. Good to go in about 45 mins or so. I watched a local Co. (I believe was safellite) do my friends 2007 f150.

Usually the only reason you know it's been done is the dust is disturbed on the dash a bit.

There are three types of windshield too.... Un-tinted, tinted without f150, tinted with f150 at the top of windshield. So make sure to ask for the better one.

I've used safelite on other vehicles before and they do a good job. And they claim it's actually stronger than factory within 2 hours or something of having it done. Cause the windshield is a integral part of the box safety design in vehicles.

Thanks for the write up, I think I'll have safelite do the work but will still call around.

safelight charges you out the ***, along with dealerships. Look for a body shop, they can or will know a local place that wont kill your budget.

do not use safelite!!! They will not use carlite glass. Your glass will not match factory with the F150 logo on the glass. I always use a local small glass company. All you have to do is tell your insurance company that you don't want to use safelite.
