Window Switch, Drivers Door
I looked for threads on the door switches, didn't find any with this type of problem.
It is just the driver's door switch, all three of the rest work fine. It started with the switch working in the "auto-down" and down features; you had to wiggle the switch to get it to go up. I took the switch apart and found one of the little black plastic pieces was melted. I switched it with the center one and it was working fine for about two weeks. Now, it is an auto up and manual down; it works but definitely isn't right.
I know I can replace the switch module but, I want to make sure it isn't something with the motor causing the overheating [my assumption because of the melted plastic] and drawing too much current through the switch contacts.
Thanks in advance for any ideas and help.

Yep, same problem here. I followed the how to instructions on cleaning the contacts. The only thing i forgot to do was to apply the grease to the contacts. I didn't think it was a huge deal since there was no evidence of grease on the contacts when i took them apart. I cleaned the contacts for all 4 windows since i had it apart but the driver window was the only one with the problem. This cleaning helped the driver window for about a day and a half maybe. There was no evidence of melting plastic, just dirty contacts. I guess I need a new switch, anybady know how much they run for just the part.

Yep, around 60-70 bucks at the dealer...took it out of the box and replaced it in the parking lot. I had the same issues with my driver side window. Sales guy said they average 1 a week for replacements.

I've already had 1 warrantied out. My new one (roughly 1yr old) is now giving me problems again. The Ford parts site only gives a part number of 14529A. So I'll make sure to reference this new part number.

I just replace mine yesterday. I went to Autozone and picked one up it was $53 with my miliary discount. It's not from Ford but it looks and works just the same. The part # is SW6666
