Default Window going up issue

Trying to help my neighbor. Her husband is deployed and money is tight. 2006 f150 extended cab. Lariat. Driver window will go down but struggles to go up. I don’t believe it’s a switch issue. Here is how she describes it:

You have to really jostle it up while pushing the button to get it to catch and go back up. Sometimes you can hear it clicking trying to catch.

i will get eyes on it this weekend. Any tips or advice to help her is appreciated.

Sounds like a motor to me.. pull the door panel and watch it... good luck and thanks for looking out for our servicemembers dependents.

That's the window regulator assembly going out. Only a matter of time before the glass drops in the floor and does not return. She can either stop using it or it will need to be replaced. Being military and showing ID at the gate, this will become cumbersome.

She can receive a 10% discount at all local parts stores, also check for local ads/coupons, and most of the aftermarket parts come with a lifetime warranty..no need to go OEM. All she needs to do is present her ID at checkout.

It's a rather easy task to preform. If my neighbors were able to replace my rear window while I was downrange last year without messing anything up--anyone can do it.

Also, keep in mind the autoparts stores will match online prices too.

I had this exact same problem. It's not the motor but the path for the window. Clean everything as best as you can, especially on the edges of the window that recess into the weather stripping. Use Sylicone lube on the window edges, all the weather stripping, etc. Lube on the inside of the door on the window guides. Keep running the windows up and down and lubricating as needed. Once you're done clean up. Over the next couple days it should get even smoother.

Default The motor is on the regulator assembly

It all comes in one piece the pulleys on it are pre wired to motor . Aftermarket okay been seven or eight years since I did my drivers . I forget the cost ,just pull all the panels off not hard just time consuming . Don't let window fall, use duct tape to hold it up and you can wedge some cardboard as a safety if you are nervous . If window falls it can get expensive .Drivers door takes a beating difficult to justify fixing the broken one .After you do one it seems easy .

Thanks to all, got it done. Local dealer quoted her $550. Got the part from 1a (in part due to their awesome video, thought I would support them). Went aftermarket. Install was about an hour and/or 2 beers. She was very grateful. Mom with three kids under 6 while hubby is in the stan, not sure how she does it. Thanks to all on this forum for their help.
