Default Where is the Engine Oil Temperature Sensor located?

I have a 2004 f150 5.4 motor. Just got the code P0198 "Temperature(EOT)sensor circuit high". I called the Ford Dealer and the only part they could find under this was the Temperature sensor which I'm not sure if it's the same thing. I have no idea where the part is located on the motor to see it. Can someone please tell me or show me where this is at??

It's on the side of the oil pan can't miss it. Inspect the connection before you buy the sensor because it's in an exposed area that could be easily damaged by road debris.

That's where I thought it was. Has 2 wires coming out of it. I unplugged it and then plugged it back in and reset the engine light. My engine oil temp has remained stable and not jumping all around like before. I've only driven the truck about 5 miles since I did that so we'll see if it stays off.

I thought I read somewhere that some F-150s don't even have a sensor. My 04 STX oil temp gauge, when I cold start my truck, goes straight to a little past the middle line. On my programmer the EOT is always zero. It never shows a trouble code.

Don't know why your programmer is not reading it but I can assure you it's there.

Looked it up: the 4.6L is missing one of the sensors so it won't display it. 5.4L will show it.

I scanned my 05 and the code said P1184 - EOT out of sensing range.

Possible causes could be:
Bad sensor / resistor in the sensor.
Loose connection.
Bad ECM.
Stuck thermostat - (fluid was 185 degrees)
Engine not at operating temperature.
Harness shorted or open.

Truck wasn't at operating temperature and I will check the connection at the pan also.

Thanks "Verus Pro"

I recently had my motor replaced with a refab core motor. Mechanic had to install swap all accessorie, pans, etc from old motor. Now I have this pesky light with error code P0198. Traced it to this loose wire by my oil pan. Since pan and all was supposedly transferred over, am I missing something?

Thanks everyone, looks like he swapped with wrong pan, so I'll be replacing it myself. Pan is leaking oil anyway, go figure..
