I have an '04 with a 5.4 with the "EOT Hi" message and P0198 code, but the dealership tells me I don't have an oil temperature sensor. Parts stores don't have them either. How is this possible? I have the code, but not the part that is supposed to be throwing the code. It's not a Heritage, but a 5.4 F-150. Running terrible, poor gas mileage (11 MPG) and lacks power since this code showed up.

That's a coolant temperature sender according to the description. Also, if you google those manufacturer part numbers, they're all coolant temperature sensors/senders too.
If you go to Autozone, Advance Auto Parts, O'rilley or other parts stores, they will list oil temperature sensors, but if you read the description, they say that they are coolant temperature sensors.
I've done the research. I've talked to 2 different dealerships. They both say they do not show an oil temperature sender for a 2004 F-150 Lariat with a 5.4 engine. They do offer to schedule an appointment to diagnose the problem. Also, my scan gauge does not show oil temperature as available data.

Could that just be a generic description? The 5.4 doesn't have a coolant temperature sensor. Coolant temp is interpolated from the cylinder head temperature sensor. Just throwing that out there. The connection looks compatible.
