I think it sounded the same inside. I don't usually have any music or anything on and it was about the same. My wife said she didn't notice any difference either. I hacksawed the muffler off. The front 2.5" pipe slides into the Flowmaster muffler. Then in the back I bought a 2.5" diameter extension that was 18" long from NAPA with one end flared. I cut about 4" off of it. It slid right in the new muffler and the flared end fit right over the tailpipe. 3 clamps seem to have sealed it up nicely. Now I just need to install some hangers but for now the tailpipe hangers is holding it up with no problem.

It's going to get louder after break in.
Like said in an earlier post, it's pretty much all about what you like. I put the MBRP kit on mine, and like it a lot. Without a doubt, my next truck will be getting a MBRP setup up as well.

What is there to 'break in'?

As our chambered mufflers utilize our Delta Flow technology, there is no packing material to "break in". The sound that you hear when they are first installed will be the same one you hear after years of driving.

I put a 3.5"x12" tip on my stock exhaust. Gave the tone a little more 'body' or depth. These trucks aren't that quiet stock, but a single 2.5" pipe isn't big enough to give them any voice. I put up a post with a video somewhere. 'just the tip'
